Our sense of smell has an incredible ability to transport us to another time and place. But when it comes to shopping for candles online, it can be tough to determine what the scent will actually be like. Since we can’t experience the fragrance firsthand, we’ve compiled a list of the individual main ingredient descriptions to assist you in making an informed choice.

 

Ingredients

 

Amber is a blend of ingredients that describes a warm, powdery, sweet scent. It consists of a soiree of ingredients (natural and synthetic) such as vanilla, patchouli, labdanum, styrax, benzoin and a few more. It is used to create oriental fragrances that convey a rich, spicy and powdery feel.

Bourbon smells just like the Kentucky Bourbon used in popular spirits - vanilla, oak, butterscotch, and smoke - warm and spicy.

Cannabis balances rich, spicy and herbaceous aromas with soft, floral notes of muguet and magnolia.

Cashmere is infused with bergamot and mandarin which are balanced with juicy pink pear, a floral heart of tiare flower and jasmine.

Cedarwood has balsamic undertones and a camphorous odor. Pencil shavings and fine cigar boxes, which are often manufactured from cedar, are just some of the associated scent descriptors used when talking about this aromatic wood scent.

Chocolate evokes the smell of has dark cocoa powder and a kiss of creamy vanilla.

Mango is a sweet, fruity, tropical, juicy mango. Some come with hints of plum and peach and a touch of lush green.

Musk is a warm subtle scent defined by a complex range of powdery, sweet, woodsy and earthy aroma impressions. Fruity or floral undertones can also be detected depending on the musk.

Orange is an intensely refreshing, stimulating, and slightly tart note, It smells fresh, juicy, sweet and a bit powdery. Optimistic and cheerful. Enough sweet, just a little sour. The scent of orange is harmonizing, uplifting and relaxing.

Oud is typically described as warm, intense, earthy and sensual – with a slightly animalic note. Given its origins in the natural world, many fragrance connoisseurs liken oud to the scent of fresh, slightly damp soil, a barnyard, or hay drying in the sunshine.
